Damariscotta Montessori School is an accredited non-profit private alternative school located in scenic Lincoln County Maine. Conveniently located off Route 1, we offer a unique and diverse Montessori classroom program for children ages 2 1/2 through 15, preschool through Grade 8. The basic aim of the Montessori philosophy is to cultivate the natural curiosity and love of learning that is present in all children. We accomplish this in our beautiful and unique multi-aged classrooms. Hands on learning is done at a child's own pace to create life long learners who value knowledge, imagination, creativity, and innovative problem-solving. Along with a deep, rich, academic curriculum, we value teamwork, collaboration, effective conflict resolution, cultural awareness, and teaching respect for each other and the environment. We use our beautiful outdoor campus as an extension of our indoor classrooms for learning, exploration, gardening, community service, and play. Our school community is a place where all children are valued as individuals. We believe that each child has a diverse mix of feelings, ideas, and interests that deserve to be honored. By respecting and nurturing the uniqueness of each child we strive to build a foundation for a lifetime of creative learning and living. |
