503 (c) Non Profit
Families often ask for ways in which they can contribute to the school. We are a non-profit so, needless to say, there are many. Donations of time, money and/or services are always welcome. As a 501(c)(3) organization, please remember that any donation you make to the school is tax deductible. As a small non-profit school, we not only appreciate, but depend upon the generous donations of parents, alumni, friends and sponsors. There are many ways you can contribute to the Damariscotta Montessori School to help our children build a foundation for life.
If you'd like to make a donation to the school, you may click on the button above to donate through PayPal. We will send you a receipt of your donation for tax purposes.
GRANDPARENTS OUTDOOR STAGE PROJECT:
This fall, we launched our Grandparent Outdoor Stage project where our extended DMS family members are helping us raise funds to build an outdoor stage on campus for choral performances, school plays, presentations, and graduation. If you would like to help us reach our goal, please click on the DONATE button above!
We ask that every family volunteer at least 12 hours during the course of the school year, and we provide many opportunities to volunteer both inside and outside the classroom, at events, hosting after school activities, chaperoning field trips. We understand that time is very precious, and if you can't volunteer time, we hope that you will make a monetary donation to the school.
DMS Annual Fund:
This yearly fundraising drive is the backbone of our fundraising efforts. Our goal each year is 100% parent participation, asking parents to only give within their means. This effort is directed not only to current DMS families, but also alumni, grandparents, and special friends of the school.
DMS Spring Auction:
Each year, the DMS community comes together for a night of great food, terrific company, and fast bidding at our Annual Spring Auction. We ask parents to offer donated items or services to this event. We have so many wonderfully talented parents who offer artwork, carpentry services and items, vacation cabins, one of a kind experiences, as well as many wonderful tangible goods and gift certificates. This event is a highlight of the school year, not only for community building and socializing, but helps put the "fun" in fundraising!
Do you like to shop online? What if a percentage of each purchase you made online went to your favorite school?! All you need to do is set up an account at www.onecause.com and choose DMS as your "cause". Then every time you want to shop online, you visit the OneCause website and click through their links to the store of your choice. Choose from hundreds of popular online shopping locations! Every quarter the school will receive a rebate check from all the contributions made. Every percentage point adds up and contributions go directly to the school.
Box Tops and Labels for Education:
The DMS office collects "Box Tops for Education" and "Labels for Education" in collection bins. Each label earns the school 10 cents towards school supplies and equipment. Every label adds up!
The School has a returnable bottle bin located just outside the "Puffin's Nest", adjacent to the handicapped parking in the parking lot. Just dropped off your bagged returnables and we will have them picked up twice a month. All money goes directly to the materials budget in each classroom.
Each fall, Hannaford Supermarkets runs a program "earn for your schools" and for every 4 specially marked items you purchase at checkout, you can each $3.00 for a local school. You can turn in these dollar coupons to the school directly, or place them in the DMS slot at the coupon kiosk as you leave the store. Last year we earned over $700 in Hannaford dollars!
Young'uns and Consigning Women:
The school has accounts at both of these wonderful consignment shops on Main Street, Business Route 1, in Damariscotta. If you'd like to bring in your gently worn clothing items, just ask them to put the proceeds on the Montessori school account.
